Yiddish Language, Culture, and History
Explore the rich language, history, and traditions of Yiddish culture in this engaging introduction for lifelong learners. Participants will learn common Yiddish phrases and expressions while discovering the historical events and communities that shaped Yiddish speaking life throughout Eastern Europe and beyond. Through stories, language, and cultural insights, this course offers deeper appreciation of the influence of Yiddish on Jewish identity and everyday life.
Avi Hoffman is an internationally acclaimed actor, director, and champion of Jewish culture dedicated to preserving the Yiddish language and heritage arts. A New York Drama Desk Award nominee, he is best known for his acclaimed solo productions Too Jewish? and Too Jewish, Too! and for his work with the National Yiddish Theatre Folksbiene, the Milken Archive, and the University of Miami to celebrate and preserve Jewish history and culture.

*This class is held Thursdays, October 15-November 19. Three time slots are offered each day, with two course options during each slot. Participants may attend one course per time slot. Advance registration is preferred, but walk-ins are welcome.
