5:00 pm EST – CELEBRATING YOSL:
The Legacy of Joe Papp; A Musical Celebration

December 1st has been officially declared as “Joe Papp Day” in New York City. In honor of this day, YI Love Jewish is presenting a day of events celebrating the life and work of this important theatrical icon.

This concert is a celebration of Brooklyn-born “Yosl Papirofsky” (Joseph Papp 1921-1991) whose life and legacy are not just a part of our theatrical past, but can be a part of our present and future. Papp bestowed upon us an enduring cultural legacy: Shakespeare in the Park, the Public Theater, and his own rediscovery of the joys of Yiddish language and culture.

This concert will honor Papp’s life, work and socially- conscious career with excerpts of Yiddish Broadway songs, including the highly acclaimed off broadway musical Songs of Paradise.
